To which airport on the Costa del Sol do I book my flights?

You need to book your flights to Malaga Costa del Sol Airport.

Which airline should I use to book my flights to Malaga Airport?

There are many to choose from and it all depends on where you fly from. If you are travelling from the United Kingdom you can try: Aer Lingus; Easy Jet; BMI; Jet2; Monarch; Thomson or British Airways.

What about booking a transfer from Malaga Airport to the villa or apartment?

One company that has been recommended to me and seems to offer a good rate is: Sun Transfers

How do I book a rental car?

There are many companies offering good deals on the internet and so it is really a case of having a look to see what type of car suits you and what offers are available at that time. Many of my visitors have been using a local company for years and the lady who runs it is very reliable. She is English and her details are: Marge Terry. Can I get a train from Malaga Airport to the villa or apartment?

Yes, The nearest train station to all the villas and apartments (except for Casa Campomar) is El Pinillo, but it is worth remembering that there are no taxis at El Pinillo train station. You can continue one stop more to Arroyo de la Miel and get a taxi from there is which is only a short trip. For Casa Campomar you need El Carvajal station which is about 15 minutes walk from the villa, but uphill!

Can I get a taxi from Malaga Airport to the villa or apartment?

Yes, there is an excellent taxi service at the airport - just follow the signs from the arrivals hall. Please remember to bring your map and directions with you and check the cost before you get in to the taxi. Most taxis will carry three passengers plus cases.

What time can I arrive at the villa or apartment?

We try to be flexible but the general rule is that accommodation is available after 4pm. Please let me know your arrival time in advance so that we can schedule the cleaning, and if you have an early arrival time we may be able to help. In most cases, even if your accommodation is not ready, you will be able to leave your bags and come back a little later.

What time do I need to leave?

You will need to leave by 10am. Again, we may be able to make arrangements for your bags if you let us know beforehand.

Is there WiFi?

Casa de los Limones and El Descaso have WiFi connection.

Do I need to bring linen?

You will need to bring beach towels with you to use at the beach and on the sunbeds at the villas. Bed linen and bathroom towels are provided based on the number of people in your reservation.

Is there a hairdryer?

All the villas have at least one hairdryer.

Is there an iron?

Yes, every unit has an iron and an ironing board.

What are the beaches like?

The beaches on the Costa del Sol are lovely and sandy, and have sun-loungers and parasols available for hire. In some areas of the beaches you will be able to hire pedaloes, go banana-boating, parasailing, or play volleyball or boules.

How near will I be to Puerto Marina, the marina in Benalmadena Costa?

The distance to Puerto Marina differs depending on the villa or apartment in which you’re staying, but Casa de los Limones , El Descanso, Villa Vita Nova and Los Pintores are within easy walking distance.

What facilities are there at Puerto Marina?

The marina is a lively port with some lovely yachts and buildings. It is a wonderful place to stroll and have a coffee or to do some shopping. There are some excellent restaurants and bars. You can also visit the Sea Life Centre.

What water sports are available?

From Puerto Marina you can go deep-sea fishing – take a scheduled trip that can be organised when you arrive. There is a dingy club in the Marina and in the summer there are various other activities available on the beaches such as banana boats, pedaloes & parasailing.

Which towns do you recommend that I visit while I am staying on the Costa del Sol?

Towns that are within an easy journey from Benalmadena Costa are: Mijas; Ronda; Fuengirola, Malaga. If you can travel a little further, it is worth booking an excursion with a local travel company to Granada where you can see The Alhambra, or to Gibraltar. There are travel companies in Benalmadena Costa where you can book a day excursion to any of these towns and the trips work out good value. If you want to visit the Alhambra independently you will need to make a booking online on one of the many websites offering tickets, for example at: www.alhambra-patronato.es

Can I use public transport to get to any of these Andalucian towns?

There is an excellent train service that runs along the Costa del Sol from Fuengirola to Malaga. The nearest train station to all the villas and apartments except for Casa Campomar is El Pinillo but there are no taxis at El Pinillo train station which is worth remembering. You can get a taxi from the main train station in Arroyo de la Miel. The nearest station to Casa Campomar is El Carvajal. There is also a good bus service all along the Costa. There is a main bus terminal in Fuengirola so you can change there for buses to Mijas and Ronda.

Is a visit to Malaga town centre a good idea?

Malaga town is a wonderful place and very well worth a visit. Get to know the real character of the area by spending a day away from the Costa! Look for the wonderful cobbled alleyways striking off from Calle Larios, stroll along the sea-front in the cool shade of the Botanical Gardens, pause at the well-known El Pimpi Bar to savour a glass of Malaga Dulce Wine. Be sure to visit The Picasso Museum; the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro Castle; the Roman Theatre; the Cathedral – all of which are near to each other. If you have spare time, check out the shops all along the pedestrian street called Calle Larios. It is easy to get the train to Malaga and spend a day enjoying the Spanish Culture and the many tapas bars!

Would you recommend any local restaurants?

There are some that are excellent but they can change and so I hesitate to recommend any, however, there is an information book in each villa and apartment that has the details of some reliable places to eat.

What local facilities are there for my children?

Please have a look at the ‘Activities’ page on my website. You will also find more information about local places to visit in the information book at the villas and apartments. Some ideas are: Bioparc Fuengirola; Aqua Park in Torremolinos or in Fuengirola; Tivoli World; Sea Life Centre; Selwo Marine and Adventure Centres; The Crocodile Park and Paloma Park.

Can I go skiing in the Sierra Nevada?

Yes. To drive to the Sierra Nevada from Benalmadena will take you about 1½ to 2 hours. It is a nice drive. You can hire all the ski equipment you need once you arrive. There is underground parking and slopes for all levels including good nursery slopes. You can also book lessons.

Can I play golf?

Yes. There is a huge range of golf courses available all long the Costa del Sol, plus some inland such as Lauro Golf and Alhaurin Golf. Along the costa there is the famous Torrequebrada Golf course plus many others including one in Benalmadena – Benalmadena Golf. All are easily accessible.

What will the weather be like?

The Costa del Sol usually lives up to its name! Low season months can be especially great with wonderful clear sunny days. Check out seasonal weather reports by clicking here.

Will I be able to use local trains?

There is an excellent rail network that runs all along the coast between Malaga and Fuengirola. In the centre of Malaga, at the main train station called Maria Zambrano, you can get connecting trains and the AVE to Madrid . Train stations that will be useful to you are: Malaga Airport (el aeropuerto); El Pinillo and Arroyo de la Miel for Casa de los Limones, El Descanso, Villa Vita Nova and Los Pintores. For Casa Campomar you need El Carvajal station. A timetable is available in English.

What about local buses?

There is a local bus service that runs along the coast road, A340, between Malaga and Fuengirola. There are bus stops within walking distance to all the villas and apartments.

Are there any local markets?

Yes. The local markets are in Fuengirola on Tuesday, Torremolinos on Thursday and in Arroyo de la Miel on Friday. There is also a car boot sale/craft market on Wednesday in Arroyo de la Miel, or Saturday in Fuengirola. All these markets are easy to get to using local buses/trains.
